INTRODUCTION

Ayurveda, Yoga & Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha, Sowa-Rigpa and Homeopathy (AYUSH) systems of medicine include Indian systems of medicine that either originated in the Indian subcontinent or flourished in this part of the world. Ayurveda is one of the oldest systems of medicine worldwide with a well-documented history of its practice for more than 5000 years.Yoga and Naturopathy is an ancient Indian system for holistic health and is popularised all over the world. Siddha is a popular system in southern India, primarily in Tamil Nadu,which also approaches holistic health. Sowa-Rigpa is an old and well-documented medical tradition which is popular in Himalayan Societies such as Ladakh, Lahoul, Spiti and Tibet. Unani and Homeopathy systems are also popular in India. These systems are being practised in the country with diverse preferences of people and infrastructural facilities. AYUSH'S system of medicine aims to create a disease-free society by preventing disease and providing a holistic lifestyle.

All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Guwahati has the facility of AYUSH healthcare system specially Ayurveda, Yoga and Naturopathy. AIIMS Guwahati has a dedicated AYUSH block with OPD and IPD services. OPD services have been made operational for Ayurveda, Yoga and Naturopathy. IPD services with a sanctioned bed strength of 30 beds is under process for initiation of IPD services.

MISSION

To start a "Panchakarma" treatment facility for OPD as well as IPD patients
To start "Kriyakalpa" treatment procedures for different Eye and ENT diseases
To start an Ayurveda Ano-rectal clinic for common Ano-rectal diseases like Fistula-in-Ano, Haemorrhoid etc.
To start "Swarnaprasan" for the paediatric age group up to 18 years to boost their immunity and intellect
To start Yogic Shatkarma, regular demonstration classes for Meditation and Relaxation techniques.
Yoga for Cardiac rehabilitation etc. producers for OPD as well as IPD Patients
To start different Naturopathy treatment facilities for the prevention and management of various disease conditions

OPD: Monday to Friday (9.00 AM to 4.00 PM)
Telemedicine: Saturday (9:00 AM to 1:00 PM)

The department is also involved in the delivery and facilitation of health and health-related services including public health awareness for a holistic lifestyle, Ayurveda daily and seasonal regimen for health and wellness, Ayurveda health information services and self-care via AYUSH Telemedicine

Chronic Respiratory disorders: Chronic rhinitis, Chronic sinusitis, Chronic bronchitis, Asthma, COPD etc
Chronic Musculoskeletal disorders: Chronic arthritis, Chronic sprain, Frozen shoulder, Cervical & Lumber spondylosis etc.
Chronic GIT disorders: Chronic GERD, Chronic IBS, Chronic Constipation etc. Chronic Nervous System disorders: Hemiplegia, Chronic Neuropathy etc.
Chronic Psychiatric disorders: Depression, Anxiety, Sleep disorders etc.
Chronic Skin disorders: Chronic eczema, Psoriasis, Chronic urticaria etc.
