Department of Cardiothoracic and Vascular Surgery

Introduction:

The Department of CTVS, AIIMS Guwahati will cater to the needs of the Northeast population for adult and pediatric cardiac surgeries, thoracic surgeries, and vascular surgeries. The high incidence of Congenital heart disease, Rheumatic heart disease, Aortic dissection, and Tuberculosis in this region forces many patients to seek treatment outside the region. It will be our goal to provide quality services to these patients.

Vision and mission:

Establishment to attain the following goals:

1. Pediatric cardiac center for treating complex congenital heart diseases.
2. Heart failure unit with ECMO facility
3. Initiation of complex aortic surgery program
4. Heart transplant unit

• To start thoracic and peripheral vascular cases
• Starting VATS
• To start adult cardiac and pediatric cardiac surgery
• Starting minimally invasive cardiac surgery (MICS)
