Department of Dermatology, Venereology & Leprosy
The Department of Dermatology, Venereology, and Leprosy was started on November 23rd, 2022 when Dr Mary Zothanpuii Chhangte joined as Assistant Professor. It started its Outpatient services immediately after its inception along with Teleconsultation services. The Department aims to serve as the “Centre of Excellence” to cater to the people of Northeast India in diagnosing and treating cutaneous skin conditions.
Currently, the Department consists of an Assistant Professor, One Junior Resident (non-academic), and two Nursing officers.
The department, in collaboration with other departments, has conducted a Symposium on World Leprosy Day with the theme, “End Leprosy; fostering partnerships.”
A Leprosy Sensitisation program was also conducted in the nearby community to mark World Leprosy Day.
The department is currently engaged in Undergraduate teaching and regular Interdisciplinary discussions
Vision and Mission:
The Department of Dermatology aims to provide,” Excellent Care” in the area of Dermatology, Venereology, and Leprosy. It seeks to correctly diagnose and treat dermatological conditions in the best possible way at affordable costs to the people of North East India.
We aim to conduct research to attain new knowledge on the subject to improve patient care.
The department also seeks to start Postgraduate training soon.
A Postdoctoral certificate course in Dermatopathology will be started in collaboration with the Department of Pathology.
Services Provided :
The department provides daily Outpatient Services on Mondays to Fridays from 9 am to 2 pm and on Saturdays from 9 am to 1 pm.
It also provides Teleconsultation services on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.
