Department of Paediatric Surgery

The Department of Paediatric Surgery was created as a super speciality department in 2022 with Dr Jay Kishor Soren, Assistant Professor as Incharge /Head of the Department, AIIMS Guwahati. There are a total of 16 beds. There is Modular OT, regular OPD and emergency services for paediatric surgery. Congenital anomalies and acquired diseases both are treated at the centre. The department caters not only to the needs of northeastern states but also of neighbouring countries like Bangladesh, Bhutan, etc. The department provides specialized care not only for General Paediatric Surgery but also for Neonatal Surgery, Paediatric Urology and Paediatric Oncology.

• To carry out research in the speciality under ethical and scientific guidelines
• To serve as a role model for ideal paediatric surgical practices in North East India
• To start fetal surgeries
