Introduction

Department of Transfusion Medicine and Blood Centre, AIIMS, Guwahati is located on the ground floor of the IPD block. However, to cater to the immediate need of the patients attending AIIMS, Guwahati, it will initially function as a blood storage center from the first floor of the OPD Block.

The Department of Transfusion Medicine and Blood Centre shall be operating a state of art blood center in the North-East of India, adhering to the highest standards of Good Manufacturing Practices as per the Drugs & Cosmetic Act and NABH Standards, with compassion for the sick, and a commitment to serve the underserved. To establish a center of excellence in medical education, training, health care, and research imbued with scientific culture.

UPCOMING SERVICES

Blood Storage Centre:

• Blood Centre, GMCH, Guwahati will be serving as the mother Blood Centre.
• Blood-grouped and cross-matched Packed red blood cells will be provided.
• Routine blood grouping, DAT/IAT (Coomb’s test)

Blood Centre:

• Donor Complex: Blood donation (Voluntary/Replacement), Apheresis Donation
• Component preparation: PRBC, FFP, Platelet concentrate, Cryoprecipitate, Modified blood components
• TTI Screening of blood donors
• Therapeutic Apheresis: TPE, Leukapheresis (Stem cell collection), Red cell exchange
• Immunohematology testing: Phenotype, Antibody screening, Antibody identification, Elution/Adsorption, Secretory status
