Department of Radiation Oncology
The Department of Radiation Oncology at All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Guwahati is dedicated to providing state-of-the-art radiation therapy to patients with cancer. The North Eastern states of India record the highest cancer incidence in the country. The Department of Radiation Oncology at AIIMS, Guwahati, will help strengthen the infrastructure for cancer treatment delivery in this region. We hope to close the care gap for cancer patients by obtaining state-of-the-art services within this region so that patients of North East need not travel outside the region for their treatment. We also aim to conduct meaningful research on cancers specific to this geography and socio-cultural background, thereby developing sustainable strategies for managing common cancers of this region. We envisage initiating various academic programs and training to develop a skilled workforce for tackling the country's rising cancer burden.
