Emergency Medical Services (EMS) serve as the backbone of any health institution. Our department exemplifies this critical role. We are dedicated to providing immediate and comprehensive care to patients experiencing acute medical conditions and traumatic injuries.


   We aim to provide rapid, high-quality emergency care that saves lives and minimizes the impact of acute medical conditions and injuries. To establish AIIMS, Guwahati, as a leading centre for Trauma & Emergency care, recognized for excellence in clinical services, education, and research. To enhance the community's health and safety by improving emergency response capabilities and raising awareness about emergency care.


   To ensure that every patient receives timely, efficient, and compassionate care tailored to their specific needs, maximizing their chances of recovery. To build a robust framework for emergency care that supports clinical excellence fosters innovation, and facilitates continuous learning and improvement.    We offer comprehensive emergency services including trauma care, surgical interventions, medical stabilization, and critical care, ensuring patients receive the right care at the right time. Our department integrates advanced diagnostic tools, state-of-the-art medical technologies, and skilled personnel to maintain high standards of care and operational efficiency. By providing reliable and accessible emergency services, we aim to improve overall community health outcomes and readiness to handle emergencies.

  • Services: We plan to expand our services to include specialized trauma centres, air-evacuation facilities, and a regional disaster response coordination centre.
  • Trauma Centre: Development of a comprehensive trauma centre equipped with the latest technology and staffed by specialized professionals to handle severe injuries.
  • Air-evacuation: Implementation of an air-evacuation service to ensure rapid transport of critically injured patients from remote areas.
  • Regional Disaster Response Coordination Centre: Establishment of a centre to coordinate and manage disaster response efforts across the region, ensuring swift and effective action during emergencies.
  • Disaster Ward: Creation of a dedicated disaster ward to handle mass casualty incidents efficiently.
  • Trauma & Surge Capacity Building: Enhancing our capacity to manage large influxes of patients during mass casualty events or disasters.

Medical Academics:

  • Emergency Medicine: Offering a postgraduate program in Emergency Medicine to train the next generation of emergency care specialists.
  • Trauma Surgery & Critical Care: Developing a super-specialization program in trauma surgery and critical care to produce experts capable of handling the most complex cases.
  • Training Capsules for Paramilitary Forces: Delivering specialized EMT training to paramilitary forces, enhancing their ability to provide emergency medical care in the field.

Research & Innovations: We are committed to advancing emergency medicine through cutting-edge research and innovative practices. Soon Trauma Registry will be implemented to analyse and initiate trauma prevention protocols within the institute also drive throughout the Northeast region of the nation.
