• The faculties and nursing officers of Trauma and Emergency Medicine were actively involved in organising and training in the Paediatric Trauma Resuscitation Module (PTRM) held on March 28^th and 29^th 2025 at the Centre for Experiential Learning and Simulation (CELS), AIIMS Guwahati.
• The faculty of Trauma and Emergency Medicine were also involved in teaching and training doctors from the entire North-east during TRACE-ICU POCUS workshop which is conducted every year at AIIMS Guwahati by the Department of Anaesthesiology, Critical Care and Pain Medicine.
• We successfully conducted a day-long  hands-on training on ‘Basic Life Support’  for the junior residents and nursing officers of our department where the participants were trained on the life-saving skills of CPR and airway management.
• We celebrated the “World Emergency Medicine Day” on 27^th May, 2025 with a half-day long public-awareness programme
• We conducted a CME on “Basic Management of Hand Injuries” on the occasion of Hand Surgery Day on 23.08.25 for our residents and nursing officers in collaboration with the Department of Burns and Plastic Surgery and the Department of Orthopedics.

Besides, the department also plans to conduct various other workshops and CME's related to Trauma and Emergency Medicine in the future.

• Services: We plan to expand our services to include specialized trauma centres, air-evacuation facilities, and a regional disaster response coordination centre.
• Trauma Centre: Development of a comprehensive trauma centre equipped with the latest technology and staffed by specialized professionals to handle severe injuries.
• Air-evacuation: Implementation of an air-evacuation service to ensure rapid transport of critically injured patients from remote areas.
• Regional Disaster Response Coordination Centre: Establishment of a centre to coordinate and manage disaster response efforts across the region, ensuring swift and effective action during emergencies.
• Disaster Ward: Creation of a dedicated disaster ward to handle mass casualty incidents efficiently.
• Trauma & Surge Capacity Building: Enhancing our capacity to manage large influxes of patients during mass casualty events or disasters.
• Collaboration with Nearby Medical Establishments: Building partnerships with local hospitals and clinics to create a seamless network of emergency care providers.
• Point of Care Diagnostic Services: Integration of advanced point-of-care diagnostic tools to provide immediate test results, facilitating faster decision-making and treatment.

   We aim to foster a culture of learning and innovation through various academic programs.

• Emergency Medicine: Offering a postgraduate program in Emergency Medicine to train the next generation of emergency care specialists.
• Trauma Surgery & Critical Care: Developing a super-specialization program in trauma surgery and critical care to produce experts capable of handling the most complex cases.
• Training Capsules for Paramilitary Forces: Delivering specialized EMT training to paramilitary forces, enhancing their ability to provide emergency medical care in the field.

Research & Innovations: We are committed to advancing emergency medicine through cutting-edge research and innovative practices. Soon Trauma Registry will be implemented to analyse and initiate trauma prevention protocols within the institute also drive throughout the Northeast region of the nation.

1. The Trauma and Emergency Medicine Department presently has 6-monthly intake of 1 post graduate Emergency Medicine trainee through INI-CET entrance examination and the number of post graduate seats are expected to increase with joining of new faculties.
2. The faculty of the Department are involved in teaching and training of both the Undergraduate and Post-graduate students as well as Nursing Officers of the Institute through regular classroom lectures, weekly seminars, case presentation and Journal clubs.
3. The faculty of the department organise, conduct and participate in various Local and national level workshops, Conferences and CMEs throughout the year.
4. The faculty are also involved in teaching and training of BSF jawans regarding emergency management of patients suffering from trauma and other medical illnesses.
5. The faculties and residents are also involved in various outreach programmes to train the doctors and other health care providers in BLS, ACLS and Trauma life support.
